My Fire Safety Album
join the fire safety team and create your own fire safety picture album to help keep you, your home and your school safe.
to complete your mission, with the help of your mom or dad, you have to do different tasks. use your camera while exploring and investigating, and take pictures of all the clues you see to keep them with you.
after finishing all the tasks, classify your pictures into the different sections of the album to organize all the safety discoveries you made.

to begin the mission, complete the first activities of your album.
the first section is named: prevention.
the mystery is: how do fires start?
in this first step, you will:
complete the activities shown in this section.
walk through your house and inspect all the possible causes of fire there can be.
take pictures of each cause you find and remember to write where they are.
bring the pictures to class and paste them in the correct page.
next, you´ll have to do a scavenger hunt in your school to find fire and safety equipment.
the mystery is: what protects me from fire?
take a tour through the school grounds and search for all the equipment and fire safety signs.
once again, take pictures of each sign and remember to write where you find them.
bring the pictures to class and paste them in the correct page.
now, your task is to create a fire escape plan. (you will find the sheet in the album.)
the mystery is: to discover all the possible exits from your house and room.
to do this:
walk through your home and inspect all possible exits.
draw a map of the first floor of your house showing all doors and windows.
visit each room and find one or two ways out. (remember all windows and doors should open easily).
pick a meeting place outside (it should be in front of your home).
in case of fire, everyone will meet at the meeting place.
draw everything on the fire escape plan.
talk about your plan with your parents and plan your escape routes together.
practice your home fire escape drill!
at last, with the help of your parents, complete the checklist in the album.
finally, let?s go visit the fire department!

this section is named: protection.

write a thank you letter to them; they do an amazing job!
once we get there, look at the firefighters? equipment and items they use for fire safety.
take pictures with your camera to all the safety items you see.
when we gather around with our firefighter guide, participate by telling what you took pictures of.
listen carefully to what they say and take notes on your album
to finish your fire safety album, print out all the pictures left you took during your adventure
and paste them according to the group they belong in.
make sure all the activities are done and completed.
decorate your favorite pages of the album and prepare to share your album with the class.
