FOCUS 2 April 13 to 30

Descripción

Coming back from the holidays we are going to resume with the contents of Unit 6, the review pages in the activity book as well as in MyEnglishLab, then we are going to assess the students´ knowledge of this Unit and begin with the contents of Unit 7.

Review vocabulary and grammar, Unit 6, p. 106

Duración

3 sessions of 40 mins on Tuesday, April 13th

Actividad Docente

Ask students, volunteers, about the most remembered event, day or activity during their holidays. In the second session ask them to open their activity book on p. 106, do exercises 1 & 2, check in pairs, then as a group. Play a vocabulary game. Ask students to solve exercises 3 & 4, check as a class. Play grammar games with the second conditional and/or the modal verbs for obligation and permission.

Actividad Estudiante

Participate in the open sharing of the most remembered situation, day or activity that experienced during the holidays. Read and answer exercises 1 to 4 in p. 106, participate in the vocabulary and grammar games.

Review Use of English, Listening, and Writing, Unit 6, p. 106-107

3 sessions of 40 mins on Wednesday, April 14th

Actividad Docente

Ask students to continue working on p. 106, do exercises 5 & 6, check in pairs, then as a group. Play track 14 twice for Ss to answer exercise 7. Then set up pairs to work in exercises 8 & 9, provide help as requested (breakout rooms). Set up an assignment in Classroom for both exercises.

Actividad Estudiante

Solve exercises 5 to 9 in p. 106-107, ask questions, participate in the sharing and checking of answers. Work with a classmate to answer a brief questionnaire and use it to make up a story.

Propósito

Review Speaking, Unit 6, p. 107 and exercises 6.8 in Myenglishlab, as well as the Self-check Test and the Unit 6 Test, type A.

3 sessions of 40 mins on Thursday, April 15th

Actividad Docente

Set up same pairs as the day before for Ss to do exercises 10 & 11 in p. 107, then they do Myenglishlab, as assigned (exercises 6.8, the Self-check Test and the Unit 6 Test, type A). Offer assistance as requested.

Actividad Estudiante

Work in pairs to do the Speaking activities from p. 107, then they do exercises 6.8 in Myenglishlab, as well as the Self-check Test and the Unit 6 Test, type A

Propósito

Make sure all students finish the activities in MyEnglishLab for Unit 6

Actividad Docente

Display the Gradebook in Myenglishlab, show the exercises that are pending only about Unit 6. If students have finished then send them to a break out room (play Escape Rooms for second conditionals).

Actividad Estudiante

Check and do pending activities in Myenglishlab. when finished, do the Escape rooms about the  2nd conditional.

Propósito

Assess Unit 6 through a Google questionnaire.

Actividad Docente

Open an assignment in Classroom and/or share the link in the chat of Zoom. Oversee the work of students, help them as requested.

Actividad Estudiante

Open the assessment tool, Google form, answer as best to show they have learned the contents for Unit 6.

Propósito

Provide feedback for the general results of Unit 6 evaluation. Begin with the objectives for Unit 7.

Actividad Docente

Provide graphics and feedback from Google Forms, answer any doubts or questions from Ss. Show the objectives for Unit 7, p. 108. Share the link to the exercise in Liveworksheets about shopping (vocabulary). Provide links to the Nearpod escape rooms.

Actividad Estudiante

Receive feedback on the results of the Unit 6 test, make questions about the mistakes, or check for understanding. Observe and participate in the opening discussion about Unit's 7 topic, Shopping, then answer the exercise in Liveworksheets and Nearpod.

Actividad Docente

Open forum about the students' preferences on where to go shopping, elicit reasons for their answers. Show a video about Mall of America in Minnesota. Ask Ss to work individually and in pairs to solve the activities in p. 108-109, including the Word Store 7A to 7C.

Actividad Estudiante

Participate in the open discussion on where to go shopping, watch the video about the Mall of America, then share their opinion. Work in the activity book and answer the exercises of p. 108-109. Share answers and/or correct them as reviewed. Share with a partner in the speaking activities.

Propósito

Continue with lesson 7.1 in Myenglishlab and the vocabulary game. Assess students through vocabulary quiz 7.1

Actividad Docente

Set up exercises 7.1 in Myenglishlab, help as necessary, then create 2 groups to play the vocabulary game in the CD-ROM, finally provide Google Forms with the vocabulary quiz 7.1 type A and B

Answer the exercises in Myenglishlab, participate in the vocabulary game in teams, then answer the vocabulary quizes 7.1 types A and/or B

Lesson 7.2 in the activity book. p. 110 The Passive

Duración

Actividad Docente

Provide vocabulary games for students to practice the Word List 7, then provide Kahoots about the Passive, before moving into the exercises of p. 110. Be ready with an additional tutorial video from a well know source, but show first the tutorial in the CD-ROM. Go over the exercises of p. 111, assist Ss if they request it.

Actividad Estudiante

Participate in the vocabulary games, play the diagnostic Kahoots on the Passive, and answer the exercises in p. 110, watch the tutorial video and make questions to fully comprehend the lesson.Solve the exercises of p. 111 as well. Ask questions as needed.

Ask Ss to solve the Grammar Focus exercise in p. 150, then make teams to play the Grammar Game provided in the CD-ROM, set up exercises in Myenglishlab before doing the Grammar quiz in Google Forms.

Solve the Grammar Focus exercise in p. 150, then participate in teams to play the Grammar Game, solve the exercises in Myenglishlab before doing the Grammar quiz in Google Forms.

Listening Lesson 7.3, p. 112-113

Duración

3 sessions of 40 mins on Tuesday, April 27th

Actividad Docente

T asks Ss to work in the exercises in the activity book, giving them time to answer each one, animate or answer any question or doubt on regards of the instructions, do not get the answers yet. T provides audios as needed. Once Ss finish all the exercises, T gets random Ss (use classdojo sorting tool) to answer each one of the items, check as a class. Play the audios again for Ss to repeat the vocabulary. T sets exercises in MyEnglishLab 7.3 for Ss to practice their listening skills

Answer the activities in the book, participate actively in pairs when required and in class when correcting the exercises. Answer the activities in MyEnglishLab as well.

Duración

3 sessions of 40 mins on Wednesday, April 28th

Actividad Docente

T asks Ss to do activity 1 in pairs, work in exercise 2 individually, check the answers as a class. Continue assisting Ss over the next exercises until the Word Store 7E. T sets a Quizlet Live for Ss to practice some of the vocabulary needed to answer the Word Store activity. Select random Ss to participate in the checking of the activities.

T sets exercises in MyEnglishLab 7.4 for Ss to practice their reading skills

Answer the activities in the book, incluing the Word Store 7E, participate actively in pairs when required and in class when correcting the exercises. Answer the activities in MyEnglishLab as well.

Grammar Lesson 7.5, p. 116-117

Duración

3 sessions of 40 mins on Thursday, April 29th

Actividad Docente

Play Kahoot about grammar lesson: Quantifiers (diagnostic phase).

Then go through lesson 7.5,  exercises 1 & 8 in pairs, 3 to 7 individually, Help Ss as requested, exercise after exercise, don't check the answers yet, but animate their work by setting times and strategies on how to do it.  allow Ss to check any of their answers before checking them as a class.

Show the video (tutorial) and check out the answers as a class.

In teams, students play the grammar game. T opens the grammar game and select random Ss to participate in the challenge.

Solve grammar focus 7.5 in p. 150.

Actividad Estudiante

Answer the activities in the book, participate actively in pairs when required and in class when correcting the exercises. Play the Kahoot and grammar game.
