Focus 2 Sep 21st to Oct 2nd

Descripción

This week students will cover the 2nd half of unit 1, starting with Grammar lesson 1.5 and continue working with the speaking and the writing lessons of this unit. Students will be assessed in grammar by answering a couple of questionnaires in Google, then we are going to read, listen and analyze a dialogue about showing interest in what somebody is saying and say whether they are similar or not. Remember that the topic for this unit is personality, thus we are going to practice English around the themes that are involved in that. Students will know that it is important to know which ones are our personal traits and tell other about ourselves.

Objetivos

1. Grammar: use different verb patterns: verbs + -ing or verb + to-infinitive

2. Speaking: show interest in waht somebody is saying and say whether we are similar.

3. Writing: write to someone and tell them about myself.

4. Review of unit 1 and assess their knowledge.

Monday Sep 21st

First, play scribble.io with vocabulary words from Unit 1 Word List p. 152. Ss work in pairs exercises 1 & 5, solve exercises 2 to 4 individually, then compare with thier partner (  Students'Book p. 20).

Second, work individually through exercises 6 & 7, check as a class. Set pairs to do exercise 8 (teacher models the activity before hand with the help of a student)

Third, let them solve the grammar focus exercise in p. 144. Set up 2 groups for them to play the grammar game.

Lead the plan of classes, assist students to get into Scribble.io, set up the individual and pair work activities and scaffold the speaking activity.

Play the vocabulary and grammar games, participate actively in the individual, pair and big groups exercises, as well as in the whole class review.

Assess Grammar Lesson 1.5 through Grammar quizes and kahoot plus MyEnglishLab 1.5

Actividad Docente

Lead the plan of classes, assist students to get into Quizlet live, set up the grammar quizzes and assign the activities in MyEnglishLab.

Set the grammar video and provide feedback for students' doubts or questions.

Actividad Estudiante

Play the vocabulary game and answer the grammar quizzes, as well as the exercises in MyEnglishLab.

Propósito

Wednesday Sep 23rd

1.6 Speaking, Activity Book pp. 22-23. Ss answer the exercises, then check as a class. Ss work in the speaking task as specified in exercise 8.

Actividad Docente

Set up pair work for exercises 1 and 8, oversee students' participation and answers for exercises 2 to 7 and provide audios for exercises 2, 3 and 4.

Actividad Estudiante

Participate in the pair and individual work, as well as in the role play.

Propósito

Thursday, Sep 24th 

Practice Speaking through MyEnglishLab, then students will record an audio with a partner using the main elements in the speaking focus (exercise 8).

3 Sessions of 40 minutes each

Actividad Docente

Assign students the exercises 1.6 in MyEnglishLab, set up pairs to do exercise 8 and organize the listening for peer feedback.

Actividad Estudiante

Answer the exercises of Myenglishlab, participate actively in the recording of the audio (exercise 8), provide feedback to other pairs.

Propósito

Friday, Sep 25th

Finish watching the movie Wonderful. Students chose a character and provide a summary or report on his or her personality, using vocabulary from the word list and suggestions from the speaking focus.

Set up the movie in Netflix, share with students the aim for this second part of the movie (report on the personality of one of the characters).

Watch the second part of the movie paying attention to the personality type of one of the characters.

Writing lesson 1.7 Activity Book pp. 24-25. Ss read the text, answer the exercises, then check as a class. Ss work in the writing task as specified.

Lead the plan of classes, assist students to answer the exercises and assign the 1.7 activities in MyEnglishLab.

Finish MyEnglishLab 1.7 exercises and solve the Focus Review 1, pp. 26-27

Assessment Unit 1, Students will be assessed through dictation, listening, reading, vocabulary, grammar, and writing.

Actividad Docente

Teacher will provide Google Forms for the Listening, Reading, Vocabulary and Grammar parts of the Unit test. Also, Students will do dictation and writing tests and send them through assignments in Google Classroom.

Actividad Estudiante

Answer the Unit test as best as they can, the dictation and writing in their notebook, the listening, reading, vocabulary and grammar in a Google Form provided for this.
