In this first week of June we intend to finish the lessons of week 3 (Monday) and continue with the content for week 4. The Unexpected has been really important and meaningful as we are experiencing in our own lives the sanitary contingency and taking classes at home. King Midas tale will help us to answer the weekly question, how can we learn from the results of our actions?

Objetivos

Monday the 1st, Students will solve Workbook p. 417 in the 1st session. Ss read the stories that prepare them for the Story of the week in Pearson. T will play the story of the week (1st read). Students will read the Story King Midas and the Golden Touch in Pearson (2nd read). Focus in compare and contrast reading skill, as well as the comprehension strategy based on the story structure.

Tuesday the 2nd, Students will read the Paired Selection as well as the brief story in Sleuth. Focus in Fluency (rate). T plays the video with the question for week 4 and then move the Ss to the lessons about the language needed for week 4, vocabulary & amazing words, as well as spelling & challenge ones.

Wednesday the 3rd, Students need to do the Workbook p. 420. 422 & 427. T plays the video about the grammar lesson for week 4, quotation and quotation marks. Play a Kahoot game.

Thursday, the 28th, Students will answer pp. 421 & 428 in the workbook. T plays a video in Pearson Realize (Comprehension skill), and then read the stories that prepare them for the main story, The Hindenburg.

Friday, the 29th. T will play the story of the week (1st read). Students will read the Main Story (2nd read). Focus in Fact and Opinion reading skill, as well as the comprehension strategy based on prediction and set purpose. T uses the think critically section for an open discussion about the story of the week.

Prepare the Ss to go over the readings of week 3

Pre reading and reading strategies for the main story of week 4

Unit 6 Week 4 Grammar lesson: Quotation and quotation marks

This day we are going to get in touch with the language needed for the readings of week 4.

Read about the author, the Paired Selection as well as the story in Sleuth. Wrap up week 3.

Answer p. 417 in the workbook. 

Reading comprehension and analysis

Actividades Docente

T will display p. 370-371, make questions to the students (pre reading strategy). T plays video with the comprehension strategy, then asks Ss to read the story "Andrew's Wish" as well as "Hospital for Wild Animals", try to connect these reading with the skills as well as with the question of the week. T displays pages 376-377, have students shares their knowledge of this myth. Then, plays the audio for Ss to listen, read the story all together.

T will play the video with the comprehension strategy for week 4, then shows the texts prior to the story of the week, including this one.

T asks students to play a Kahoot about quotations (diagnostic stage), then displays the video from Pearson (day 3) and plays another Kahoot. Asks Ss to open their workbooks in p. 421, have Ss read the lesson and then answer the exercises. Check them as a class. Do the same with p. 428. Finish with another Kahoot.

T will set a Quizlet Live (2 sets) to diagnose the vocabulary and amazing words, as well as the spelling and challenge ones. T will displays the vocabulary cards (day 2), then the amazing words (teacher's edition), as well as the spelling and challenge words (Quizlet).

T speaks about the author and other books, then displays the Paired Selection, have some volunteers read. Engage students in connecting the story of the week with this text. Others may connect it to the weekly question as well. Finally, read the text in the Sleuth section and open the dialogue for comments and their final opinion on the content for week 3.

T, after taking attendance and welcoming the students, asks Ss to open their workbooks in p. 410, T reviews the grammar lesson, making notes or underlining the most important elements for the lesson. Then, asks Ss to go to p. 417, have some volunteers read the sentences aloud, and then answer the questions as a class.

T uses some questions from the Think Critically and the teacher's edition for Students to: retell the story, analyze its content, compare and contrast with their own situation or social surroundings.

Actividades Estudiante

Some volunteers read the stories aloud, follow them by listening and reading, participate if there are open questions (comprehension questions)

Students will watch the video about Fact and Opinion and then analyze the story How Blimps are used. Some volunteers read aloud. Do the same with The Birth of the Automobile. Then listen and follow the story of the week, The Hindenburg. Participate in answering comprehension questions.

Students play Kahoot as diagnostic and evaluation of the lesson. They will also answer pages 421 & 428 in the workbook.

Students will play Quizlet Live to get in touch with the language needed for week 4. They will see, listen and repeat the vocabulary words. Need to answer p. 420 in the workbook. Check as a class. After practicing the spelling words in Quizlet, Ss will answer pages 442 & 427. Check them as a class.

Students will have their chance to read aloud, make comments or answer questions during class.

Ss work in p. 410 & 417 in the workbook, participate in reading aloud or answering the questions of the exercises in the workbook. They are invited to make questions to clarify the answers or grammar rules.

Participate in the reading aloud of the story of the week as well as in discussion of questions from the Think Critically section.

Evaluación

Exercises in p. 420-422, 427-428 of the workbook.
