Feb 22 to 26, Unit 4 Week 3, students will read and reflect on why secret codes are necessary.

March 1 to 5, Unit 4 Week 4, students have to come up with answers to the question of how can knowing another language create understanding.

Objetivos

Feb 22 - 26, students will understand that secret codes have existed since ancient times, need to be complicated, and can be pictures, objects, letters or words.

March 1 - 5, students will understand that people communicate to exchange knowledge and ideas with scholars, scientists, and inventors, with gestures and written symbols.

Wrap up week 3, start up with Unit 4 week 4.

Monday, February 22nd, 3 sessions of 40 minutes each.

Actividad Docente

Teacher shows the images to start up a discussion about this week top features, then teacher shows the weekly video for students to continue discussing or brainstorming their previous knowledge of Yosemite. Teacher plays a Quizlet live as a diagnostic or first impression on the spelling words for this week. Asks Ss to copy the spelling words into their notebook (1st column, regular letter). Study the spelling words in Quizlet. Play Kahoot about irregular verbs (diagnostic phase). Finally, set up the vocabulary activities for Ss to study them during the week.

Actividad Estudiante

Participate in the open discussion of the video, the images, in the Quizlet live as well as in the copying of the spelling words into their notebooks. Ss need to do the vocabulary activities during the week, as well as to practice the spelling words in Quizlet.

Propósito

Continue mastering vocabulary needed for week 4 and then reading main selection.

Thursday, February 25th, 3 sessions of 40 minutes each.

Show the writing lesson from Savvas. Allow Ss to read the main story (2nd read), monitor the think critically section (make questions to random Ss), let them read the Sleuth selection. Help them solve the vocabulary and spelling word pages from the workbook.

Read aloud as requested, participate in the think critically activity, read the Sleuth selection, do a Quizlet activity, write the 3rd column of the spelling words in the notebook, solve pages from the workbook.
