FOCUS 2 Nov 3 to 13

Descripción

After finishing the 2nd Unit, students will then transit to Unit #3, the Arts. In this transition, students will be assessed in general terms about unit 1 and 2, solving the Review Test #1 through a Google questionnaire. This is also time to reflect in the areas they are more effective and take measures in order to work out and improve in their weak areas.

 

Objetivos

Unit 3 has the following language and skills objectives:

Vocabulary, students will be able to talk about books, movies, and music

Grammar: Students will be able to use the present perfect and the past simple to talk about past actions. 

Listening, they will identify specific details in a radio program about a street artist.

as for Reading, they will identify specific details in movie descriptions and reviews.

Propósito

Review Test 1 and start Unit 3 with an open discussion of topic, theme, predict content, review previous knowledge of the Arts.

3 sessions of 40 minutes each on Tuesday the 3rd.

Actividad Docente

Apply Review Test 1 through Google Forms, overview and answer inquiries, doubts about the instructions. Help students as required.

Show up page 44, elicit previous knowledge on the topic, invite students to participate and share concepts, ideas, experiences, anecdotes.Show facebook video on CECUN's celebration for the Day of the Death, continue open discussion on Art experiences. Set up and assist in playing Word Bingo from vocabulary of the types of books and movies section in p. 154

Actividad Estudiante

Answer Review Test 1 in Google Forms, participate in the open discussion on Unit 3's topic, watch video and make comments. Play word bingo.

Propósito

First, students solve Unit 3 Diagnostic test.

Secondly, students get into the Unit's vocabulary through playing Quizlet live with words from Unit 3.

3 sessions of 40 minutes each on Wednesday the 4th.

Lead the plan of classes, assist students to open and answer Unit 3 Diagnostic test. finally, let Ss get into Quizlet, and play with the new vocabulary for this Unit.

Answer the diagnostic test, play the vocabulary games, participate actively in the acquisition of any new words.

Propósito

First, students play charades with words from the art section of p. 154. Then work though exercises 1-3 Students' Book p. 44, first column, in pairs, then check as a class. Give ample time for sharing after they have worked in pairs.

Duración

3 sessions of 40 minutes each on Thursday the 5th.

Actividad Docente

Lead the plan of classes, assist students to get into pairs in breakout rooms, give them feedback to correct the exercises in the activity book.

Actividad Estudiante

Play the vocabulary games, participate actively in the pair exercises as well as in the whole class review.

Propósito

Work as a class to answer exercises 4 to 7, set up pairs for Ss to do exercise 8 (teacher explains the activity before hand).

Then, solve exercises 9 and 10 as a group. Set up same pairs for Ss to work out the speaking activity in exercise 11.

Finally, assign exercises in MyEnglishLab 3.1 (5 exercises and 1 quiz).

Lead the plan of classes, play 20 questions with vocabulary from the description section of p. 154, provide feedback to correct the exercises in the activity book and the Word Store. Monitor Ss' work in MyEnglishLab.

Play the vocabulary games, participate actively in the pair and small groups exercises, as well as in the whole class review. Answer the exercises and short quiz in MyEnglishLab.

Propósito

Assess vocabulary lesson through vocabulary quiz 3.1 type A and/or B, then begin the first grammar lesson of Unit 3, present perfect and past simple to talk about past events.

Duración

3 sessions of 40 minutes each on Monday the 9th.

Actividad Docente

Apply Vocabulary quiz 3.1 type A (and type B if required) through Nearpod, play Kahoot with grammar quiz 3.2 type A, lead Ss to answer exercises 1 to 3, check as a group. Play the tutorial video.

Actividad Estudiante

Answer the vocabulary quiz and the grammar one, solve the exercises in the activity book, participate in the feedback and watch the video to learn more about the lesson.

Propósito

Continue practicing the use of present perfect and past simple in order to talk about past events or actions.

3 sessions of 4o minutes each on Tuesday the 10th.

Actividad Docente

Apply the grammar game from the CD-ROM, then let students solve exercises 4-6 individually, check as a class.

In pairs, students do exercise 7, p. 47, then share with the class. Ss solve grammar focus 3.2 in p. 146

Finally, set up exercises 3.2 in MyEnglishLab

Actividad Estudiante

participate in the grammar game, answer the exercises from page 146 and answer the activities in MyEnglisLab.

Propósito

Assess students in lesson 3.2 through the Grammar Quiz 3.2 type A, individually, and type B as a group. Then, move on to lesson 3.3. listening, where students have to identify specific details in a radio program about a street artist.

3 sessions of 4o minutes each on Wednesday the 11th.

Actividad Docente

Apply grammar quiz 3.2 type A (Google Form or Nearpod). Use reward system to give out points. Minimum score is 12 out of 15. Apply grammar quiz 3.2 type B as a class.

Set Ss to work in pairs to solve exercise 1 & 2, then play audio 2.4 for Ss to order the photos as they hear about the work of French street artist JR. Play track 2.5 for Ss to do exercise 4. Send Ss back to pair work in breakout rooms for them to answer exercise 5. Solve exercises 6 to 8 as a class.

Anwer the grammar quiz type A, participate in the grammar quiz type B (Reward System: BL Ss have to answer, OL or AL Ss share strategies).

Answer pages 48 & 49 in pair or individual, as set by the teacher. Correct as needed. 

Propósito

Practice the listening skill through the exercises 3.3 in MyEnglishLab and then begin with lesson 3.4 in the activity book.

T sets exercises 3.3 in MyEnglishLab, monitor and offer help as requested.

T asks Ss to do activity 1 in pairs, p. 50, work in exercise 2 individually, check the answers as a class. Continue assisting Ss over the next exercises until the Word Store 2E. T sets a Quizlet Live for Ss to practice some of the vocabulary needed to answer the Word Store activity. Select random Ss to participate in the checking of the activities.

Answer the activities in MyEnglishLab, 3.3. Answer the activities in the book, p. 50-51, including the Word Store 2E, participate actively in pairs when required and in class when correcting the exercises.

Propósito

Practice the 3.4 lesson in MyEnglishLab, Reading activities. Wrap up the week.
