FOCUS 2 Oct 5th to 16th

Descripción

This week we are going to reflect upon the Unit 1 objectives and transfer the grades from the diagnostic (color blue lines) and Unit 1 results (color green lines) to the bike's wheel they drew back in August. Also, we are going to begin with Unit 2, Invention, learning new vocabulary and grammar, as well as some listening & reading skills.

Objetivos

Vocabulary: Ss can talk about Inventions; Techonology; compound nouns: computers; collocations; phrasal verbs

Grammar: Ss can use the past continuous and past simple to describe past events; also, Ss can talk about past states and repeated actions through the formula "used to"

Listening: Ss can identify specific details in conversations.

Reading: Ss can find specific details in a story abou space travelers.

Propósito

Unit 1 Test review, self assessment and reflection using the bike's wheel. Where do I need to improve? How? Ss design their action plan to get better grades.

Duración

Actividad Docente

Provides grades to Ss, so they can transfer them to their bike's wheel. Provide questions for Ss to write their reflection about this last assessment. Monitor around and clarify for any misunderstanding of grades or tasks.

Actividad Estudiante

Get their grades and note them down on their bike's wheel, self reflect on their score and design or write down their own assessment of what they need to improve, how to achieve better grades.

Propósito

Answer Unit 2 test type A as a diagnostic for the unit's objectives.

Review of Unit 2's objectives and general overview of the topics and goals.

T shares the link for Ss to solve Unit 2 type A test, monitor around for Ss questions or difficulties. 

Actividad Estudiante

Ss' get the Unit 2 test type A and answer it as a diagnostic exercise, Ss get an idea of what is coming in this month.

Propósito

First, play scribble.io with vocabulary words from Unit  Word List p. 153. Work though exercises 1-3  Students' Book p. 28, first column.

Second, work individually through exercises 4 & 5, check as a class. Set pairs to do exercise 6 (teacher models the activity before hand with the help of a student)

Third, let them solve the vocabulary activities in the Word Store. Set up small groups for them to check their answers, then correct as a class.

Lead the plan of classes, assist students to get into Quizlet, Scribble.io and provide audios and feedback to correct the exercises in the activity book.

Actividad Estudiante

Play the vocabulary games, participate actively in the pair and small groups exercises, as well as in the whole class review.

Propósito

Practice vocabulary words with a game in Quizlet. Review pages 28, 29 & Word Store. 

Students solve vocabulary quiz 2 type A in Google Forms. Check answers as a class.

Play the vocabulary game and then, Ss solve the exercises in MyEnglishLab 2.1. If needed, Ss solve Quiz 2B as a reinforcement.

Lead the plan of classes, set up assignments in Google Forms & Quizlet, assist students in answering vocabulary quizzes 2A & 2B.

Participate in vocabulary games, review vocabulary lesson, including the Word Store exercises, answer quizes 2A & 2B.

Propósito

Practice vocabulary words with a game in Quizlet. Play Kahoot about grammar lesson: past continuous and past simple (diagnostic phase).

Then learn about past continuous & past simple tense, lesson 2.2,  through exercises 1-3 in p. 30. Watch video (grammar) and let students solve exercises 4-6 individually, check as a class.

In pairs, students do exercise 7, p. 31, then share with the class. Ss solve grammar focus 2.2 in p. 145

Lead the plan of classes, set up assignments in Quizlet & Kahoot, assist students in answering the grammar exercises in p. 30-31.

Actividad Estudiante

Participate in the vocabulary games as well as in Kahoot, answer pages 30-31 in the activity book.

Propósito

Assess Ss understanding of lesson 2.2 through exercises in MyEnglishlab as well as grammar quizzes 2.2 A and/or 2.2 B

Ask Ss to do MyEnglishLab 2.2 exercises and sets a Google Questionnaire for Ss to answer the Grammar Quiz 1.2 type A

Review exercises as a class. Play the same Kahoot as the previous day, see if they got higher scores than the 1st time.

Participate in Quizlet and Kahoot, answer quizes in google forms, participate actively in MyEnglishLab, as well as in the open sharing.

Actividad Docente

T asks Ss to work in the exercises 1 to 7, p. 32-33 in the activity book, giving them time to answer each one, animate or answer any question or doubt on regards of the instructions, do not get the answers yet. T provides audios as needed. Once Ss finish all the exercises, T gets random Ss (use classdojo sorting tool) to answer each one of the items, check as a class. Play the audios again for Ss to repeat the vocabulary.

Actividad Docente

T asks Ss to do activity 1 in pairs, p. 35, work in exercise 2 individually, check the answers as a class. Continue assisting Ss over the next exercises until the Word Store 2E. T sets a Quizlet Live for Ss to practice some of the vocabulary needed to answer the Word Store activity. Select random Ss to participate in the checking of the activities.

T sets exercises in MyEnglishLab 2.4 for Ss to practice their reading skills

Answer the activities in the book, incluing the Word Store 2E, participate actively in pairs when required and in class when correcting the exercises. Answer the activities in MyEnglishLab as well.

Propósito

Play Kahoot about grammar lesson: used to (diagnostic phase).

Then go through lesson 2.5,  exercises 1 & 8 in pairs, 3 to 7 individually, p. 36-37. Watch video (grammar) and check out the answers as a class.

In teams, students play the grammar game. Solve grammar focus 2.5 in p. 145

Actividad Docente

T asks Ss to go over the Grammar Lesson 2.5. Help Ss as requested, exercise after exercise, don't check the answers yet, but animate their work by setting times and strategies on how to do it. T shows the video about this lesson, allow Ss to check any of their answers before checking them as a class. T opens the grammar game and select random Ss to participate in the challenge.
